MURFREESBORO HOT ROD CLUB NEWSLETTER
JUNE 2008

It's that time again, another newsletter. Wow, June flew by! We were able to have all of our Friday Night Cruise-In's without too much interruption from the weather. We have been averaging around 150-200 cars each week. July will be hot and hopefully a good month. Please come out and support your club and have a relaxing evening.

We have had great success in our annual Membership Renewals and we have added a lot of new members. Our current membership count is growing. Don't forget that renewals are due by the end of July for the 2008/2009 year. If you have joined since the first of the year, your membership will run until July 2009. Membership is $ 25.00. I will issue new membership cards by the first of August (this will allow time for renewals).

Our club members participated in several events in June. Below is a summary (and some pictures) of what we did:

June 8: Club Meeting & Picnic. We had about 30-40 in attendance, had good food (carefully cooked by Dale Nash). Ray Reed had the club's archives on hand for everyone to reminisce. Club voted to buy a concessions trailer. Donations are being accepted, many received already. We hope to have it by mid July.

June 21: Wheels in Motion show, Tullahoma TN. MHRC won $ 100 for Best Club Participation.

June 22: Adams Place cruise-in. We had several members show up to show off cars. AP fed everyone that brought a car. From pictures below, it looked like everyone enjoyed viewing the cars.

June 28: Shelbyville-Hoodlum Alley show. MHRC members won awards.
Kittrell show. Ron & Rachel Merritt & Bobby Pruitt won awards. Good job!
June 29: Wilson Bank & Trust show. MHRC had great participation, winning numerous awards.

July Meeting: Monday, July 14th @ Ryan's @ 7 p.m. (come early and dine)

Bobby Pruitt, Butch Johnson and Ricky Clemmons are always at the gate of the MHRC Friday Night Cruise-In, taking up donations or just saying hello.

Bobby and Pat Pruitt of Murfreesboro are MHRC Charter Members. Bobby is retired from Bridgestone/Firestone and Pat is retired from GE. Bobby presently owns 2 cars (a 70 Chevelle SS and a 69 Chevelle Malibu convertible) and an 85 Chevy pickup.

Butch Johnson is also a MHRC Charter Member. Butch (and I) moved to Murfreesboro in 2000. Butch is the owner of Butch Johnson's Sheet Metal in Nashville. Butch presently owns 2 cars (a 66 Malibu convertible and a 69 Malibu convertible). He enjoys working the cruise-in, going to cruise-ins and car shows.

Ricky and Debbie Clemmons of Murfreesboro are MHRC Charter Members. Ricky is retired from Nissan. Ricky presently owns a 72 Malibu convertible (or at least as the time this article is written). Most everyone in Murfreesboro knows Ricky and they all say the same thing "he's a nice guy".

The reason I call them "The Three Amigos" is because outside of MHRC activities, they are truly friends, always there for each other. Thanks guys, you all do a great job!

July 19th. We will leave the parking lot of David's Bridal (in The Avenue) at 4:15PM

MHRC FRIDAY NIGHT CRUISE IN: Every Friday night 5-9 PM

Sonic on Cason Lane in Murfreesboro:
Every other Wednesday 6-8PM - 50% OFF on purchases to anyone bringing a Classic, Hot Rod or Custom car or truck.
